We Accept the Love We Think We Deserve

Hello Hapi People!

Today is a very special day. Its the 6th month mark of Zach and I's relationship. I'm not calling it an anniversary because it isn't technically a full year. However, 6 months is a significant amount of time to spend with someone. I know some of you are thinking, "Who cares?" lol, but I think it brings up an important subject.

Obedience School

Hello Hapi People!

I am a dog lover. My dog, Mazzy, and I are starting a new adventure this week - OBEDIENCE SCHOOL! My soon-to-be two year old maltese is a bit spoiled and needs some training. Today was our first day at class. Mazzy got to socialize with the other dogs and build some confidence - all in all in went very well.

Suminagashi: The Anciet Japanese Art

Graphic from Pugly Pixel.
Hello Hapi People!

My main goal on this blog has always been to share things that make me happy. Today I want to share a  hapi discovery I made this past weekend. I have always been a lover of art in every form, including visual art. Through my work yesterday on the blog design and using Pugly Pixel, I discovered some graphics in Pugly's store. The graphics were these beautiful marbled swirls called Suminagashi. I'd never heard the term before so I took to Google to find some answers lol. Here is what I discovered:

Suminagashi (墨 流 し) or "floating ink" is the process of marbling plain paper with water and ink to transform it into something vibrant and colorful. (from suminagashi.com)

New Blog Look! featuring Pugly Pixels

Hello Hapi People!

I'm sure you have noticed something is different ... no it's not my hair. I updated the blog design! Isn't our Hapi Place pretty?! I personally think its awesome and I put a lot of satisfying work into it. I wanted the blog to be more organized and unique in design. I knew the only way to make it unique from the templates that Blogger gives you in its editor was to use ... coding. AHH!!!
DUN, DUN DUN!!!

Make Your Momma Hapi!

Hello Hapi People!

I know you are seeing it everywhere ... MOTHER'S DAY! Its Sunday and you have a few days to scramble together a gift. I know everyone is giving their last minute gift advice and quick shopping lists. I want to give you a different tip. You can always buy your mother something, and if you live away from her it might seem the only option. HOWEVER, there is are options that can be even more special that buying a gift ....

Your C.A.R.T.

Hello Hapi People!

I hope you are having a good week. I wasn't sure what to post about today but I thought I would give some tips and advice .... on generosity. I want this blog to be about things that make me happy but I don't want anyone to think happiness is all about intake. Giving people your compassion, attention, resources and time can bring you more happiness than receiving anything. Think about the last time someone sacrificed or gave something to you. Did you not appreciate their generosity? Giving from the "C.A.R.T." list (compassion, attention, resources and time) means you are giving a gift that you cannot get back. Being able to give from your own "C.A.R.T." and not focusing on yourself can be very rewarding and increase you happiness.

Shake up Cinco de Mayo Recipes

Hello Hapi People!

I hope you had a Happy 4th yesterday and you felt the force lol. Now its Cinco de Mayo! If you celebrate and need some last minute dinner ideas, here are some recipes for you! I honestly just love to grill and  decided to grill out and swim in the pool. Now that its nice and warm outside you can use these recipes anytime. I decided to grill out and these three recipes together made a tasty combination. I thought these recipes would be a different take on Mexican food for your Cinco de Mayo celebrations. I found these recipes on Pinterest all except my Avocado Mandarin Salad, which is my own creation. Enjoy and I hope its "muy sabroso"! (very tasty)

Quick! Help! I'm Stressin'!

Hello Hapi People!

Can you feel it? Spring is in the air, birds are chirping, flowers are blooming and .... STRESS IS HERE!!!

Spring can be a stressful time for everyone because a lot of events are happening. School is wrapping so students have finals and projects. Some people are graduating and moving on to college, grad school or higher, or going into the real world. Its tax season ... which speaks for itself. You may be looking for a summer job or trying to plan for the summer. Anyways, like I've said in a previous post, spring is a time for change and challenges. If you are like me, when I hear those words I think "Bring on the stress!" lol

Positivi-tea

Hello Hapi People!

I'm looking at my calendar and its nearly the end of April - I can hardly believe it. This spring has been a beautiful one with wonderful weather here in Florida. Spring is always a time of change and this spring definitely has been a change in pace for me. Life has presented new challenges and delights that I have not before experienced. From challenges with my voice and school, thinking about the future, and having a serious and healthy relationship ... its a lot to take in. I believe though, that I let the challenges blind me from the opportunities and positivities in my life. I do try to look for the positives and blessings in my life. I thankfully have people in my life (who are blessings themselves) who remind me of them.

Slump Day Inspiration

Hello Hapi People!

It's Wednesday and I know by mid week I get that Hump Day Slump. I know some people find inspirational stuff cheesy, but I thought I would share some inspirational quotes and pictures I found on Tumblr (click link to find more). I like finding quotes and thoughts that give me a new outlook on life or say something in a new way. Just getting a little motivation to keep going can make all the difference in your attitude about everyday life. So whether you are having a hard, stressful week or you are just feeling down, uninspired, or discouraged - I hope these help a little.
