Weekend DIY - Hanging Wall Decor for Beginners

Hello Hapi People!

It's Friday and its time for a weekend project idea! Do you have a picture, art, shelves or something that you have been wanting to hang on the wall but don't know how hang it? Well, I am going to show you a secure way to hang a heavy item on your wall. I know a lot of wall decor and shelves can come with kits and hardware to use, but I know I have lost pieces and have items that have no instructions. I also know that even with instructions, it can be hard to do home improvement without experience. I am going to show you step-by-step on how to securely hang an item on your wall.

There is no need to fear tools either - If I can do it, you can do it! So, without further ado, Let's Get Started!

My boyfriend gave me this mason jar organizer in March for my birthday
and I am finally hanging it up!

A Little Pick Me Up

Hello Hapi People!

I hope you are having a good week so far and that you enjoyed yesterday's post. Let me know here or on social media if you would like to see more LUSH posts. I don't have long post for you today but I just wanted to give a little update. Yesterday the Got 2 Be Hapi Blog page on Facebook received 400 likes! I thought it was a big milestone and there was even a little confetti. ;)

Oh La LUSH! - LUSH Bath Bombs

Hello Hapi People!!

Yes, that is two exclamation points because I am very excited about today's post! I recently placed an order with LUSH Cosmetics, and my order finally came! If you are familiar with LUSH then you understand my excitement. If you are not familiar, LUSH Cosmetics is a company that makes bath, body, and beauty products. All of their products are handmade and contain fresh and environmentally friendly ingredients. It is a really cool company and I would definitely suggest checking them out - I will leave a link below. And before I loose those uninterested in baths and beauty, this would make a great gift for someone in your life that does enjoy it.

A Word You Didn't Know Existed ...

Hello Hapi People!

I hope, if you are in the U.S., that enjoyed a three-day weekend or that work wasn't took bad on Monday. If you aren't in the U.S. I hope the week started off well for you.

Today isn't going to be a Wreck This Journal post but I do want to talk about something that was inspired by my Wreck This Journal. On one of the pages in the journal you are asked to "Write One Word Over And Over". For my journal I wanted to use a unique word that had significant meaning to me. I gave my word a lot of thought and scoured the interwebs ... and when I found it, I just had to share it.

SONDER - (n.) the realization that each passerby has a life as vivid and complex as your own
This took a couple of days but was very satisfying. Yes, I messed up at one point lol

Memorial Day Ideas

Hello Hapi People!

Hapi Memorial Day! If you aren't an American reader, Memorial Day is a celebration is honor of our Veterans and active military members. Americans generally spend the day doing summer activities. Here is Florida we go to the beach, go boating or just get out on the water, have bbqs, get in the pool, and just get outside to enjoy the summer weather. I know my family is having a big cookout & swimming in our pool. If you are celebrating and want some ideas I have some inspirational pics for you! My boyfriend Zach and I went to a local park the other day where everyone was enjoying summer activities and the three-day weekend. We also went to a local bakery and got some treats. I hope you enjoy these pics and get Memorial Day & summer activity inspiration.

Unexpected Poetry

Hello Hapi People!

Whew! What a whirlwind of a week. I hope your week went well, mine was busy and a bit crazy. I can't believe we are nearing the end of May. I know school is almost about to end for my area. I have been on break from school for about a month now - but as busy as I've been it hasn't been a much of a "break" lol.

Anywho, summer is definitely here in Florida where its hot, humid and beautiful. Summer is definitely my favorite time of year because of the warm weather, the beach, light breezy clothes, and making lots of happy memories. I know as a kid it was the best time of year and I have many fond memories of playing with friends, bbq's, and growing up a little each year. Now as an adult, at the beginning of the summer I have all these goals I want to accomplish. Of course, most of them are a bit idealistic, don't come to pass, or life just doesn't go according to plan. I know the last few weeks I have dealt with people, everyday happenings, and unexpected events that have thrown me for a loop. I sometimes have to tell myself that no matter what I plan or think will happen I have to be flexible. Since I am given to anxiety and any sort of confrontation scares me ... well thats easier said than done lol.

Wreck This Journal: #1

Hello Hapi People!

I told you guys I order a Wreck This Journal a couple of weeks ago and ... it finally came! I got it in the mail a couple of days ago but I want to do a few things in it before I showed you. If you don't know what a Wreck This Journal is, its a book that contains instructions on every page with ways to be creative and even destroy in the book. I will post pics of my book every week or so to show the progress. Here are some pics of the book and the little bit I've done so far ...

Here is the Front and Back cover.
The back tells you to mail the book to yourself.

Under the Weather: Remedies When You're Sick

Hello Hapi People!

I hope your week is going well. I know I've been busy but had to take a sick day yesterday. I have caught some kind of cold/flu and just needed to rest. I figured I would share some cold & flu at home remedies while I try to get better.
Let me just start by saying I am not a health expert. I am just sharing with you what works for me. I personally want to use natural remedies because when my body is sick the last thing I want to do is fill it with chemicals. I do take cold medicine but I am just trying to control what is going in my body. These remedies DO work - I have tried them myself. So here we go!

Don't Be Afraid of Doing What You Are Meant to Do

Hello Hapi People!

Monday, Monday ... the weekend is over and I hope you had a good one. I watched my baby sister graduate from high school this weekend. Needless to say I'm very proud of her accomplishments and her brainy brain.

Watching Alison walk across that stage, I know it caused me to look at my own life. I am sure some of you may ponder the same - "Am I where I want to be?" ... " Have I stayed true to those big dreams I had in high school?"

Woman, What a Beauty!

Hello Hapi People!

TGIF! Do people still say that? Lol I hope you all have had a fantastic week. I am excited to share another makeup session with you today. (Sorry boys, I know these posts are girly. Some more stuff is coming your way.) My dear friend, Cindy Platt, and I sat down and played with makeup today. It was so much fun sharing tips & tricks that she can use everyday and for special occasions. Mom to one of my closets friends in high school, Cindy and I had so much fun joking around and playing pretty. I will share some of the tips I gave her for age appropriate and easy-to-do makeup tips. Here are some pics from our time together ...

Makeover! - featuring Salee Starbuck

Hello Hapi People!

I know I didn't post yesterday, I'm sorry but if you follow me on Facebook you know that life got a bit crazy. I apologize for not posting but I hope this makes up for it. I had the opportunity of doing one of my favorite things yesterday ... MAKEUP & HAIR! Lol

I'm so excited to share these photos with you from yesterday. I partnered up with an old friend, Salee Starbuck, for a photoshoot. Salee asked me to do her makeup and I gladly accepted. I am glad I got to work with her and help enhance her lovely features and complexion. I hope you all enjoy the pictures. I have always enjoyed doing makeup and hair, so if you guys like this and want to see more let me know.

Before & After

My Life in Stills

Hello Hapi People!

I hope your week started off right. I know yesterday's post was a bit heavy and maybe controversial so I thought I would switch gears today. (You never really know what I might throw at ya lol!) I thought I would take the challenge of documenting my day in pictures. Not a typical thing I do, I'm usually someone who would rather be in the moment than documenting it. However, I think picture taking makes you stop and really see what you are doing - maybe even appreciate something mundane. I just had a busy day of unexpected things but thought I would share it all with you. It was a bit of a roller coaster weekend so taking the time to just document my day gave me some peace of mind. I don't know if you guys will enjoy this at all but, here we go ...

Weak Strengths

Hello Hapi People!

I am going to hit the ground running this week with a lot of thoughts that will seem disjointed but just stick with me. I think in order not to upset anyone and to please everyone, people play things safe. I know that I am a people pleaser but I think I'm terrible at it. I want so badly to please people that I think I give up before I start sometimes. I'm so afraid of not pleasing that if I'm not around people - not contributing in their lives daily - that after awhile they won't want to talk to me. I'm never the one to speak first and it's something I regret. However, I can't change what has come to pass. My dad told me the other day - preempting the statement with "this is cliche" - that when one door closes another opens. I've stated that I don't know if this blog is a door to anything. I just want this to be a place to come and relate to people - I want to build a relationship here with readers. I think in order to build a good relationship I think you have to be fearless and trust yourself.

Friday: Feedback

Hello Hapi People!

This has been a long, busy and even emotional week. I don't want to come here and complain though, I want to share in self expression with you. I am going to ask for your involvement and feedback. I have ordered a Wreck This Journal and want to know if you would like me to share my entries in the journal. If you don't know what a Wreck This  Journal is I will explain below. Please let me know on the blog, Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, or Pinterest.

Make Your Momma Hapi!

Hello Hapi People!

I know you are seeing it everywhere ... MOTHER'S DAY! Its Sunday and you have a few days to scramble together a gift. I know everyone is giving their last minute gift advice and quick shopping lists. I want to give you a different tip. You can always buy your mother something, and if you live away from her it might seem the only option. HOWEVER, there is are options that can be even more special that buying a gift ....

Your C.A.R.T.

Hello Hapi People!

I hope you are having a good week. I wasn't sure what to post about today but I thought I would give some tips and advice .... on generosity. I want this blog to be about things that make me happy but I don't want anyone to think happiness is all about intake. Giving people your compassion, attention, resources and time can bring you more happiness than receiving anything. Think about the last time someone sacrificed or gave something to you. Did you not appreciate their generosity? Giving from the "C.A.R.T." list (compassion, attention, resources and time) means you are giving a gift that you cannot get back. Being able to give from your own "C.A.R.T." and not focusing on yourself can be very rewarding and increase you happiness.

Shake up Cinco de Mayo Recipes

Hello Hapi People!

I hope you had a Happy 4th yesterday and you felt the force lol. Now its Cinco de Mayo! If you celebrate and need some last minute dinner ideas, here are some recipes for you! I honestly just love to grill and  decided to grill out and swim in the pool. Now that its nice and warm outside you can use these recipes anytime. I decided to grill out and these three recipes together made a tasty combination. I thought these recipes would be a different take on Mexican food for your Cinco de Mayo celebrations. I found these recipes on Pinterest all except my Avocado Mandarin Salad, which is my own creation. Enjoy and I hope its "muy sabroso"! (very tasty)

Weekend Getaway

Hello Hapi People!

Hapi Monday! I know that's a total oxymoron but I hope you had a good weekend. I had a wonderful weekend with a much needed getaway. Sometimes removing yourself from the familiarity of everyday life can be very beneficial for you. I know that I feel refreshed and ready to face my challenges. Zach and I took two little trips at the last minute because we felt the need to try something different. We also found a new way to bond by simply going to new places together and sharing the experiences.

Hapi Weekend!

Hello Hapi People!

I got one of these cool posters at the movie.
I gave it to my sister who is a big fan.
This has been a busy week with exams and I am helping my boyfriend with his school's spring play as we speak. I hope your week has been going well. I know its a busy weekend for many as I have many friends and fellow classmates who are graduating on Saturday. I am proud of of their success and wish them the best for the future. Congrats to everyone who is graduating this spring.

Anywho, I know my post was a bit more serious in nature yesterday so I thought I would celebrate the end of the week by sharing my plans for the end of the week. I saw the new Avenger movie last night and it was very good. Tonight I am taking a little road trip with my boyfriend, Zach, and we are going to Destin, FL and Atmore, AL. I will share pictures on Monday's post.

Let me know what you are doing this weekend - either in the comments, Facebook, Instagram, or Twitter.

Peace&Love,
Amy
